I don’t know what to wear!

The unpredictable spring weather that we’re having poses a dilemma every morning. I stare at my clothes and say the same thing each day, ‘I don’t know what to wear.’ I don’t like to be cold, but I don’t want to end up over dressing and unable to enjoy the sun if it appears. Can’t the weather just hurry up and be consistently in the twenties?

This morning when I said those oft repeated words, Tim piped up, ‘You’ve got the title for today’s blog then.’ I must admit that at that moment my mind was not on what I would write about, it was on my mental check list of things-to-do-before-work-at-lunch-and-after-work-to-be-ready-for-guests. I thought he was going mad – why would I write a post about what to wear? My early morning brain needed a bit more explanation.

…put off your old self, which belongs to your former manner of life and is corrupt through deceitful desires, and (to) be renewed in the spirit of your minds, and to put on the new self, created after the likeness of God in true righteousness and holiness. (Ephesians 4:20-24 ESV)

Put off your old self…put on the new self. Get dressed! Some days it takes more effort than others especially if I’m feeling discouraged or down on myself – much easier to slide into old patterns of thinking, old ways of doing. Jesus makes me new and now I have a choice to live in the good of that, believing what He says, becoming more like Him. Thankfully not alone, but with the Holy Spirit’s help.

In the midst of a busy day it helped to bear this in mind. I even found the to-do list to be a joy rather than a burden – a little attitude change…

In other news, our guests arrived tonight bearing gifts from the UK…what a treat…
