I thought I wouldn’t be able to post tonight. A headache has had me in it’s vice-like grip, making my day a test of endurance. Then, after I laid down for a while after work, feeling exhausted and ill, there was a thunderstorm followed by bright sunshine. Even feeling unwell I rushed outside to look for the rainbow.
I have set my rainbow in the clouds, and it will be the sign of the covenant between me and the earth. Whenever I bring clouds over the earth and the rainbow appears in the clouds, I will remember my covenant between me and you and all living creatures of every kind. (Genesis 9:13-15 NIV)
A rainbow. A sign of God’s promise. I love that whenever a rainbow appears God remembers. We see it, and God remembers his promise, over hundreds and thousands of years.
When God promises something it’s a done deal for all time. A sure hope. Even in the hard days, the stormy days, , the headache days, he takes the time to remind us of his unfailing love and mercy.
(Also I have to say I’m very grateful to Tim for cooking the curry I was planning to make tonight and was incapable of doing.)
